Stephen Barbara is a literary agent with InkWell Management. He has been a literary agent since 2006, representing authors of books for children and adults, in fiction and nonfiction. His list of critically acclaimed and bestselling authors includes Lauren Oliver (international and New York Times bestseller), Laura Amy Schlitz (Newbery Medal winner), Aja Raden (designer and New York Times bestseller), Ricardo Cortés (#1 New York Times bestselling illustrator), Lisa Graff (National Book Award nominee), Leila Sales, Sam Munson, Paul Tremblay (Bram Stoker Award winner), Lynne Jonell, Todd Strasser, and Jack D. Ferraiolo, as well as the companies Glasstown Entertainment, Paper Lantern Lit, and The Story Pirates.

Prior to joining InkWell in 2015, Stephen Barbara Literary Agent spent six years as an agent with Foundry Literary + Media, and before that was Contracts Director of the Donald Maass Agency for three years, both in New York City. He was also a freelance sports writer and critic before entering the publishing industry in 2005 as an editorial assistant at HaperCollins. He is originally from New Haven, CT, and graduated from the University of Chicago in 2002 with a BA in English Language and Literature. He won awards for student leadership and writing while in college.

Literary Agent Stephen Barbara has worked with novelist Alma Katsu, actress Krysten Ritter, bestselling fantasy author Sara Holland, and activist Dylan Farrow, among others, during his role of agent for media and content company Glasstown Entertainment. Film/TV are an area of interest for Stephen. In the spring of 2019, Amazon Studios announced their first-ever YA series, Panic, based on Lauren Oliver’s novel; two other novels based on books represented by him have been adapted into films, and many other projects based on books of his are in active development.
