Gail Hochman Literary Agent is a book agent with Brandt & Hochman Literary Agents. Gail is a literary agent best known for an all-star roster of award-winning authors, representing Scott Turow, Michael Cunningham, Julia Glass, Bob Shacochis, and Nancy Zafris, among many others. Hochman first landed an entry-level position in publishing at G.P. Putnam’s Sons in 1975, when it was still a privately held company. As a young editorial assistant, she worked in the magazines department with well-known authors to sell their short stories and book excerpts to The New Yorker and The Atlantic Monthly. In a career spanning more than 30 years, Gail Hochman has come a long way since editing her classmates’ college papers and becoming an “accidental” agent.

Gail Hochman Literary Agent’s clients’ works have been bestselling novels, international publishing phenomena, television and film series, and have earn prizes ranging from the PEN/Faulkner Award, National Book Award, the Pulitzer Prize, Lambda Literary Award, the Guggenheim Fellowship, Newbery Medals, and the Caldecott.

Gail Hochman Literary Agent has taught as a literary agent at NYU School of Continuing and Professional Studies. She is active with numerous foundations and charities that support women and children in New York City, and the writing community.
