Book Agent Latoya Smith was an editor, proofreader, a consultant, and worked in acquisitions for over a decade before she became an agent with the L. Perkins Agency, and then created her own agency, LCS Literary Services. She has now cofounded the ArtHouse Literary Agency (2021). From August 2014 to February 2016, Latoya was Executive Editor at Samhain Publishing where she acquired short and long-form romance and erotic fiction. She was featured in Publishers Weekly and USA Today, as well as on various author, book conference, and book blogger websites. She was the winner of the 2012 RWA Golden Apple for Editor of the Year, 2017 Golden Apple for Agent of the Year, and the 2017 Literary Jewels Award for Editor of the Year. She appeared on CSpan2 and contributed to a panel discussion on the state of book publishing.

Latoya Smith Literary Agent started her editorial career as the administrative assistant to Teri Woods, a New York Times bestselling author. During that time she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism and a minor in African American Studies from Temple University. She graduated Cum Laude from Temple in August of 2005. She started a full-time position at Kensington Publishing in March of 2006. In October of the same year, she joined Grand Central Publishing, an imprint at Hachette Book Group.
