Literary Agent Janet Wilkens Manus was born in Hartford, Connecticut, and after high school graduation there, she graduated with a degree in geology from the University of Arizona School of Mines. She then went on to take a Masters degree in Education at Columbia Teachers College while her future husband, Justin, attended Columbia Law School. They married in 1955.

Janet Wilkens Manus Literary Agent worked at the Museum of Natural History in the gemology department and later established her own literary agency, which specialized in representing authors of “true crime” books. An avid reader, she loved words and stories, and was a champion sender of text messages. She also enjoyed theater and traveling with her family in Europe and throughout the US. Literary Agent Janet Wilkens Manus died peacefully in her sleep of natural causes.
