He is the Senior Partner with the agency, which is the continuation of a firm he’d founded in 1969. Book Agent Sealy Yates graduated from Baylor University with a Bachelors in Business Administration in 1965 and from UCLA School of Law with a Juris Doctor in 1968.

Sealy Yates Literary Agent started his professional career as a lawyer after graduating from law school. He practiced with a small general law firm in Orange County for about a year. Then he opened his own law office. Over the next two decades, Literary Agent Sealy Yates developed and operated a very successful law practice. Part of his work during those years included intellectual property matters primarily related to copyright issues. He did a lot of work for Christian publishing houses, Christian authors, and I had the privilege of doing the legal work to establish the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association (“”ECPA””), the trade association of Christian publishers. He served ECPA as its general counsel for over a decade and a half.

In 1988, Sealy Yates Literary Agent became the first literary agent in the Christian publishing industry representing successful authors. He has now been representing Christian authors for so long that some have called him the “godfather” of Christian publishing. He now has the joy and privilege of having two of his sons as my partners in Yates & Yates. It has been Literary Agent Sealy Yates’ joy and privilege to serve on the boards of directors for some of the most excellent and successful ministry organizations in the world since his first year in the practice of law, including, among others: Insight for Living, Open Doors International, Ransomed Heart Ministries, Turning Point Ministries, as well as the Pepperdine School of Law Board of Visitors.
